The Trime Award Winning MGTP 24000/30 THS – A SOLAR HYBRID POWER GENERATOR

Trime, a leading manufacturer of sustainable power generation machinery, has recently launched a 24kVA power generator titled the MGTP 24000/30 THS. This hybrid (solar/battery) unit is set to completely revolutionise the way temporary power is delivered to the worldwide construction and outside events industry.

The MGTP 24000/30 THS features a Stage 5-compliant engine, with the latest lithium batteries, inverters and solar panels. Stage 5 is an important act in the regulation of non-road mobile machinery because it limits the emissions of harmful particulates. The set provides emission-free power through its high-efficiency lithium batteries. Its monocrystalline solar panels can quickly recharge the batteries, via the internal engine, or from an external source, i.e. standard mains power.

When in battery mode, the MGTP 24000/30 THS delivers 24kVA continuous power with zero emissions, zero fuel consumption, and zero noise. When the battery level is low, the engine automatically starts and begins to swiftly recharge the batteries. Whilst the engine charges the batteries, it delivers stable power from the sockets, which means the user can continue to work. Immediately after the batteries are fully recharged, the engine will shut down, and the set will continue to operate entirely from its batteries. Thus, the MGTP 24000/30 THS offers a much longer lifespan than an equivalent standard generator and reduces the possibility of light-loading. The solar panels will continue to charge the batteries (even when the generator is not in use) throughout the day, which reduces the overall time of recharges. It is also possible to fit the set into additional solar, free-standing solar panels that increase the power to charge the batteries.

For a limited period engine and batteries can also work in combination, giving the customer added power to cover the peak loads during the day, without the need for deploying additional generators.

When using the MGTP 24000/30 THS, an operator can save up to 89% in terms of emissions and fuel costs when compared to a standard generator of the same size and power outputs.

Solar Hybrid Generator-1

The MGTP 24000/30 THS is fitted, as standard, with an MRS 16 5” touch screen controller that merges all the information about the generator (engine + alternator) and, especially, the hybrid system (batteries-inverter-solar panels). This controller calculates and shows the savings for CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, whereas a traditional unit would not be able to make these instant calculations. All this information can be checked remotely on a dedicated web portal, allowing customers to have complete control of the unit via a variety of devices. The control system also monitors the load and ensures that the correct power remains consistent with demand. This eliminates the perennial problem of ‘light-loading’, which damages the engine and reduces the need for supplementary servicing.

As standard, the MGTP 24000/30 THS is fitted with side forklift pockets and four point lifting hooks for safe handling and transport. For additional security, there is a lockable control panel, and for electrical safety, there is a main circuit breaker and an earth leakage relay. For battery protection, the set has a 48V/600A BMS (Battery Management System), and for control, an emergency stop button. To guard against ground contamination and spillage, the MGTP 24000/30 THS is equipped with a fully bunded tank plus a 3-way valve to add an external fuel tank.

Optional extras include an RSV 32A plug + MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar charger for external solar panels. A mat heating system enables the batteries to operate in cold temperatures. Also available is an advanced InteliGen 500 paralleling controller.

Trime North, based in Oud Gastel in the Netherlands, was approached by a construction organisation that wanted to power offices, canteens, and storage containers on a site in Rotterdam, for approximately three months. Traditionally, the company would use a 20kVA diesel generator that was continually operating 24/7. However, they wanted an alternative method that would lower fuel costs, reduce carbon emissions, and provide power according to their varying requirements.

Trime supplied their MGTP 24000/30 THS, fitted with a 48V-24000VA inverter, a 28.7 kWh battery pack, and two 360W solar panels. Over the rental period (87 days), and based on previous fuel prices at 1.80 €/L and service expenses of € 350 (every 500 hours) with single refill costs set at € 70, the company calculated that they had saved over € 28,800, which equated to 90% savings when compared to a standard 20kVA set.

2025 Winners Rental Product of the Year MGTP2400030 Solar Hybrid Generator Ray Andrew Paul and Matteo

In June, the MGTP 24000/30 THS 24kVA scooped the top prize in the Rental Product of the Year category at the 2025 European Rental Awards. (https://blog.trimeuk.com/en/news/our-fuel-saving-and-low-emission-power-generator-is-awarded-the-top-prize-at-the-2025-european-rental-awards). The judges said, “Energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions were a feature of all of the shortlisted products, but Trime’s genset stood out as a product designed for the rental market.”

Trime (https://www.trime.it/en/) is a global, environmentally conscious company that supplies global rental firms with a range of eco-sensitive power, lighting, dust suppression, and equipment cleaning wash bays. Trime’s environmental credentials have been confirmed with a trio of Green Apple Awards, an International CSR Excellence Award and a finalist in the 2024 National Sustainability Awards.

Trime designs and manufactures a range of generators that are comparable to traditional diesel sets in terms of power provided, but give the user a positive reduction in terms of fuel consumption, CO2 emission and total costs
