A first for Scott’s Hire
Scott’s Hire, a leading nationwide hirer of a wide range of plant and equipment, has made an initial investment in sustainable lighting towers supplied by Trime UK Limited

This new order from Scott’s Hire is for Trime’s X-ECO HYBRID lighting towers.
Responding to increasing demand for site lighting, Scott’s Hire began searching for reliable, efficient lighting towers for their fleet. They found Trime’s hybrid units particularly appealing because they run principally on battery power, which helps to reduce engine running time, fuel use and noise.
The X-ECO HYBRID is an advanced lighting tower powered by a modern lithium battery that can be fully recharged in less than three hours. This means that in a ten-hour cycle, for 80% of the operation, the X- ECO HYBRID is powered exclusively by its batteries, and therefore emits zero noise and zero carbon emissions.
Scott’s hire sets were immediately deployed to provide safe, bright illumination to a water treatment works and an airport site in the Midlands.
Commenting on this investment, Scott’s Hire’s Sam Tomlinson said, “We wanted to add reliable, efficient lighting towers to our fleet. The hybrid units were particularly appealing because they can run on battery power, helping to reduce engine running time, fuel use and noise”.
“The team at Trime UK has been helpful throughout the process. We appreciate their support and look forward to seeing the units out on our customers’ sites”, added Sam.
In 1998, Martin Smithson bought Scott’s Hire from founder Don Scott, who had run the business for more than thirty years. The company has steadily grown and now operates from six divisions. These include plant hire, welfare units, specialist vehicle hire, alongside an extensive fleet of tools and equipment. They also have a safety and innovations division and a patented trailer department.
The Trime production plant is based in Cassinetta di Lugagnano, near Milan, Italy, and Pavia, just south of Milan. Trime UK is headquartered in a purpose-built 40,000 sq. ft. facility based in the Hinchingbrooke Business Park, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
