The 2021 Circularity Gap Report state that circular economy strategies can cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 39%, will also keep our planet below a 2oC trajectory and increase the proportion of materials that are reused from 8.6% to 17%. Notably, the European Union’s Circular Economy Action Plan is an important part of the European Green Deal’s roadmap for becoming the first zero emissions continent by 2050.
According to the The Ellen MacAruthur Foundation, The Circular Economy is an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design. In a circular economy activity builds and rebuilds overall system health. The concept recognises the importance of the economy needing to work effectively at all scales – for all size businesses, for organisations and individually, globally and locally.
Reaching a true Circular Economy demands a comprehensive method to resource efficiency – this means not only addressing the use of raw materials but also alternative energy sources. Viable renewable alternatives to fossil fuels include solar and wind energy which are helping to pave the way to a sustainable future.
For our industry Solar and Hybrid technologies are now actively in use and in many cases ‘the standard’ across many hire companies.
